Northern Lights is a navigational rally organized by KWRC. Navigational rallies involve finding your way along a network of paved and gravel roads while staying on time, neither early or late. Average speeds are usually 10% below the posted limits. There are instructions for beginners in the Leg B SNATR (Saturday Night at the Rallies). You can see some sample instructions here.
For the expert classes the challenge is the navigation, mostly based on maps. For the novice ORRC and the SNATR competitors the instructions are easier but still fun.
The Ontario Road Rally Championship (ORRC) event starts and finishes in St, Jacobs, a little north of Kitchener-Waterloo. If you just want to run the shorter SNATR that is fine and it costs less.
