RallyCross School 2019
We’re holding another rallycross school on Saturday Oct. 5, 2019 with a rallycross on Sunday Oct. 6.
The location is:
1716 Main St E.
Port Colborne, ON L3K 5V3
GPS 42.898846, ‐79.200793
The school runs from 9:00AM to about 3:30PM. After that we need to set up for Sunday’s rallycross.
From Jeff, the school organizer:
Our rally cross series has been developing driver skills and is now quite competitive. We have drivers who have the basic skills of rally driving but would like to improve. We also have drivers who are new to the sport and would like to find out about the fundamental skills required.
In order to accommodate both groups, the organizers are planning to have a coaching and practicing segment for intermediate drivers. This will involve instructors observing and coaching students either from inside the car or outside while the students drive a series of exercises meant to simulate real corners. The plan is to do this around a continuous loop so that the students can repeat the drills until they are consistently doing them well.
There will also be theory and practice sessions for novice drivers who have seen rally but have either limited experience of none at all. Similar to our first school, this will involve short talks followed by exercises designed to build knowledge, skills and confidence. Students will be coached in car as they drive around pylons that simulate the types of corners encountered in rally cross. Speeds will build during the day until they approach competition speeds.
We plan to accommodate up to 16 students. The cost is $85 and you can register at MotorSportReg.com or email firstname.lastname@example.org
if you can’t use the MSR page. If you sign up we’ll contact you before the school to determine which group you’d like to be in. Registration will open on Sept. 5th.
Our instructors in the past have included Randy Zimmer, Matt Tregunno, Eric Vlasic, Zoltan Kovacs and Ian Wright. They are all experienced competitors and have done very well at various events, I’ll try to post some Bio’s later. They are not normally instructors (and the rest us aren’t experienced school organizers) but we’ll do our best to give you a fun day of improving your techniques.
We have the use of the tower at the track for the classroom sessions. We’ll supply lunch and some coffee & cold drinks, you might want to bring some of your own snacks and water. Bring your helmets, if you don’t have one contact me and we’ll see what we can come up with.
We expect that almost everybody that takes the school will want to put their learning into practice at the rallycross the following day. You have to register for the rallycross separately and registration opens on Sept. 14. Try to register for the rallycross early as we usually have a full field.
- $85 entry fee
- limited spots.
We've posted the essential and good to have forms in .pdf format so you can read them and fill them out ahead of time if needed. This could be important if you plan to run with a minor for whom who you do not have guardianship authority or if you want to register before the event.
