As part of saying final farewell to Blossom Rally 2010, I have to start with a big thank you to the checkpoint marshals who covered ALL 32 controls locations in this year’s event. It takes a special breed of marshall to be able to do this and the Blossom crew gets straight "A’’ for their efforts

Steve van Rees & Ian Lantz CP A1, A11, A17, B1, B8

Ross Wood & Janet Wood CP A2, A12, A18, A19 (RC1), B2, B10

Adam Dowsett & Trevor Hancher CP A3, A13, B4, B11

Christina Chinn & Paul Henshall CP A4, A14, A20 B5, B10

Roger Sanderson & Lynda Connolly, CP A5, A15 B3, scoring

Carolyn Ryall & Frank de Kat CP A6, A16, B6

Martin Loveridge & Jim Johnston CP A7, B7 plus the start of both legs. scoring

Special note – KWRC member Jim Johnston came all the way from Gloucester England for this rally. Makes me feel guilty for not organizing in Labrador to save him some of the trip.

I would apologize for the weather, but since I had nothing to do with that or any control over how it happened, I won’t. But I admit it was different for a Blossom Rally. I’m glad no one got hit by flying debris – I know it was there because I stopped at one point to pull a log off the road. I thought maybe the Hydro crew working there might have done it themselves, but they were busy doing whatever Hydro crews do during wind storms, so they just drove their big truck over the log. Did break it into small pieces though. People in several others vehicles waved thanks too but didn’t offer me any money. Oh well. Maybe they’ll see me beside the road some time in the future with a flat tire, they’ll recognize me and wave again.

Finally thanks to you the entrants. At the end of the day, this is about you and all the effort put in by those above is so you can have a good rally. I think you did and the glitches that were shown to me (wrong EOS in A3, missing pauses in A6, extra EOS distance in A5, missing B5 distance in A3 have all been corrected and when we repeat this rally next year, I know that it is now technically accurate. J

Don’t forget our next SNATR, June 19th starting at the T/A Service Centre, Hwy 401 and Sweaburg Road on the west end of Woodstock. Info is on www. kwrc.on.ca.

Competitors who want to take advantage of our mentoring program can just email me. The program is intended to give you a chance to debrief with an experienced rallyist and to learn some of the tricks of the trade to help improve route following and or timing and to learn how to get some easy zeroes along the way.
